It was only a little over a year ago that YEP started up and we’ve just celebrated our first birthday as part of National Youth Week in Sydney & Adelaide. In our first year, Youth Employment Partnership has engaged and mentored more than 500 young people aged 15 – 21. Of those, 200 have started work, many in their first ever job, with support of our team of Mentors.
A further 100 are back into vocational training and more than 150 are engaged in work-readiness and pre-employment training. We’ve worked with more than 180 employers to create a foot in the door for young people entering the workforce.
During Youth Week, YEP celebrated our successes at several Youth Week events across Sydney and Adelaide. Team YEP were out in force at the Titanium Security Arena in Findon SA for the 2017 Youth Expo with over 550 young people. In Sydney, Team YEP attended a range of events, from the Youth Panel in Ashfield, to Marrickville Youth Week Festival and Canterbury/Bankstown Youth Fair, where Youth Mentor Chad’s Stress Ball workshop was a big hit!
Youth Employment Partnership is looking forward to even more successes in 2017 as more employers joining our Youth Employment Pledge to give an opportunity to young people in our community.
